Let us believers praise and worship the Word who like the Father and the Spirit is without beginning, born from a Virgin for our salvation; for he was well-pleased to ascend the Cross in the flesh and undergo death, and to raise those who had died, by his glorious Resurrection. [Lash] |

Once the fire of love for the Lord was lit in you, * through ascetical rigor you gave yourself to God. * O God-bearing St. Paisios, for many you became * consolation, giving counsel with God-inspired words, * and by your prayers working wonders. * And now, devout one, you intercede for the whole world unceasingly. |
O Lord, after your Resurrection on the third day, and the worship of the Apostles, Peter cried to you: Women had courage, and I was a coward; a Thief confessed you as God, and I denied you: will you call me disciple in future, or will you declare me once again a fisher of the deep? But accept me repenting, O God, and save me! [Lash] |

O Lord, the lawless nailed you between malefactors and pierced your side with a lance, O Merciful; but you, who destroyed the gates of Hell, accepted burial and rose on the third day; Women ran to see you and they announced the Resurrection to the Apostles. |
When the hosts of the Angels saw how You were accounted among the dead, they all marveled. You, O Savior, are the One who destroyed the might of death; and when You arose You raised Adam with yourself and from Hades liberated everyone. [SD] |

“Why do you mingle the ointments with your tears full of pity, O women disciples?” Thus the Angel who was shining in the tomb cried to the myrrh-bearing women. “See for yourselves the empty tomb and understand, that the Savior has risen from the sepulcher.” |

Very early in the morning, the myrrh-bearing women were hastening to Your tomb lamenting. But the Angel appeared to them and uttered, “The time for lamentation has ended; weep no more. Go announce the Resurrection to the Apostles.” |

When the myrrh-bearing women had come with their spices to Your sepulcher, O Savior, they heard the voice of an Angel clearly speaking to them, “Why do you account among the dead the One who lives? For as God, He has risen from the sepulcher.” |

Luke. 24:36 – 53 |
At that time, Jesus, having risen from the dead, stood in the midst of his disciples and said to them, “Peace to you!” But they were startled and frightened, and supposed that they saw a spirit. And he said to them, “Why are you troubled, and why do questionings rise in your hearts? See my hands and feet, that it is I myself; handle me, and see; for a spirit has not flesh and bones as you see that I have.” And when he said this, he showed them his hands and his feet. And while they still disbelieved for joy, and wondered, he said to them, “Have you anything here to eat?” They gave him a piece of broiled fish and some honeycomb, and he took it and ate before them. Then he said to them, “These are my words which I spoke to you, while I was still with you, that everything written about me in the law of Moses and the prophets and the psalms must be fulfilled.” Then he opened their minds to understand the scriptures, and said to them, “Thus it is written, that the Christ should suffer and on the third day rise from the dead, and that repentance and forgiveness of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you; but stay in the city of Jerusalem, until you are clothed with power from on high.” Then he led them out as far as Bethany, and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. While he blessed them, he parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. And they worshiped him, and they returned to Jerusalem with great joy, and were continually in the temple praising and blessing God. Amen. [RSV] |

Avvakoum, prophetically apprehending your divine self-emptying, O Christ, cried out to you in awe: You have come for the salvation of your people; to save your anointed. [Lash] |

Prefiguring, O Good One, as in an icon your immaculate Cross, which slays the taste of sin, through wood you sweetened the bitter waters of Mara. [Lash] |

You accepted a Cross, my Saviour, against the tree of knowledge, gall against sweet provender; while against the corruption of death you poured out your divine blood. [Lash] |

Without union you conceived in your womb without corruption; you gave birth before you felt the pains of labour, and after child-birth, for you had born God in the flesh, you were kept a Virgin. [Lash] |

Delight for you was deprivation and abstinence; * you considered fasting to be luxury, and all ascetic discipline was joy. * Therefore you invented all kinds of novel ascetic feats. * For your exclusive longing for the all-cherished Master, * O devout one, prevailed over every toil. [SD] |
Saint of God, intercede for us. |

We are amazed how like an angel you lived on earth, * how the Angels helped you, O Paisios, how you conversed with Martyrs and Saints. * Now that you are dancing with them in heaven, we pray to you * in earnest, holy Father: Do not cease interceding * on behalf of all people who honor you. [SD] |

When Christ the Lord, all full of sweetness, appeared to you * in divine light, what a gift of grace this was! And you in ecstasy cried aloud: “Such amazing beauty! O Savior, how could they spit on You? * Were I to live another thousand years as an ascetic, * even then I could not thank You properly.” [SD] |

Your devotee, devout Paisios, was amazed * by your tender love and sweetest comforting, when you appeared on Sinai to him * as a loving Mother, who cared for him; and he cried aloud: “O Virgin Theotokos, I count you as my mother, * and I have dedicated myself to you.” [SD] |

The women, when the heard the Angel’s words, cast away their lamentation and becoming joyful, trembling saw the Resurrection. And see, Christ drew near them and said: Rejoice!
Paisios lived alone for God alone; |
But he lightened the pain of many who were troubled. |
For being united to God through love, |
He received the grace to comfort all. |
On the twelfth, Paisios saw the never-setting light. |
On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyrs Proclus and Hilary. |
On this day we also commemorate our devout Father Michael Maleinus, the spiritual father of St. Athansius of Athos. |
On this day we also commemorate the holy Martyr Serapion; and the holy Martyrs Andrew the Commander, Heraclius, Faustus, Menas, and their company; and the holy Martyr Mamas, over in Sigma. |
St. Veronica, the woman with the flow of blood whom Christ cured, reposed in peace. |

Lord, though the grave was sealed by lawless men, you came from the tomb as you had been born from the Mother of God; your bodiless Angels did not know how you had become incarnate, the soldiers guarding you did not know when you arose; for both are sealed for those who inquire, but the wonders have been revealed to those who with faith worship the mystery which we hymn; give us joy and great mercy. O Christ, You the true peace of God with humanity, when You gave Your peace to the Disciples after the resurrection, You frightened them; for they thought that they were seeing a ghost. But You quieted the agitation of their souls by showing them Your hands and Your feet. And while they still did not believe it, You partook of the food and reminded them of the teachings, and thus You opened their minds to understand the Scriptures. Then, when You affirmed the promise of the Father, and You blessed them, You departed for heaven. We therefore join them in worshipping You. Glory to You, O Lord. [SD] |
