When the angelic powers appeared at Your grave, * the soldiers guarding it feared and became as dead. * And standing at the sepulcher was Mary who was seeking Your immaculate body. * You devastated Hades, not afflicted by it. * You went to meet the Virgin and granted eternal life. * You resurrected from the dead. O Lord, glory to You. [SD] |

Demonstrate Your love for man, O Lord of mercy, and accept Your Mother, the Theotokos, who intercedes on our behalf, O Savior, and save us a despairing people. [SD] |

On the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene came to the tomb early, while it was still dark, and saw that the stone had been taken away from the tomb. So she ran, and went to Simon Peter and the other disciple, the one whom Jesus loved, and said to them, “They have taken the Lord out of the tomb, and we do not know where they have laid him.” Peter then came out with the other disciple, and they went toward the tomb. They both ran, but the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first; and stooping to look in, he saw the linen cloths lying there, but he did not go in. Then Simon Peter came, following him, and went into the tomb; he saw the linen cloths lying and the napkin, which had been on his head, not lying with the linen cloths, but rolled up in a place by itself. Then the other disciple, who reached the tomb first, also went in, and he saw and believed; for as yet they did not know the scripture, that he must rise from the dead. Then the disciples went back to their homes. [RSV] |

Ψαλμὸς Nʹ (50). |
Psalm 50 (51). |
|
Mode 2. (or the Mode of the week) |
|
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. |
Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. |
For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. |
Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. |
For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. |
Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. |
You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. |
You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. |
Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. |
Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. |
Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. |
Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. |
I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. |
Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. |
O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. |
For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. |
A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. |
Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built. |
Then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings. |
Then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. And have mercy on me, O God. [SAAS] |

Your cross and tomb, O Life-giver, we believers worship and sing praise, for Hell, O You who live forever, as almighty God You have belayed. The gates of Hell You tore to shreds, and as God, the might of death have razed. So, avidly we earthborn praise in doxology the One now raised, who destroyed the deadly power of our foe. You have resurrected everyone -- all those who believe in You; You have rescued the world from the serpent's fangs, and have snatched us from allure to the hostile one -- as alone You had ability to do. Hence we piously sing the praises of Your rising, by which You saved us, as the God of all things. [SD] |

Blessed Fathers, you were truly revealed to the world as most brilliant beacons of Christ’s truth on the earth, melting like wax the heresies of the blasphemous prattlers, quenching the burning confusions of the slanderers; and so, as Hierarchs of Christ, intercede that we may be saved. [Lash] |

The preaching of the Apostles and the dogmas of the Fathers confirmed the Church as one in faith; and wearing the garment of truth, woven of theology from above, she rightly expounds and holds the great mystery of piety. [SD] |

Let us hear the Church of God crying out with a loud proclamation, “Let the thirsty come and drink. The bowl that I hold is a bowl of wisdom. I have mixed its drink with the word of truth, and it pours out not water of Contention, but of Confession.” Imbibing this confession, the actual Israel sees God who says, “See, see that I AM, and I am not altered. I am God first and I am thereafter, and aside from Me there is no other at all.” Hence will partakers be filled, and they will praise the great mystery of piety. [GKD] |

[GKD] |

When the Life-bestower Christ God had resurrected with His vivifying hand, from the dismal caverns, all the dead from eternity, He freely bestowed resurrection on the substance of our mortal humanity. For He is the Savior of all, resurrection and life, and the God of all things. [SD] |

[RSV] |

[SAAS] |

When the choir of Holy Fathers convened from every corner of the civilized world, they decreed into dogma the single essence and nature of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. And the mystery of theology they clearly handed down to the Church. Let us the faithful call them blessed, and extolling them let us say: O divine battalion, heavy artillery of theologians of the Lord's army; luminaries that shine brightly in the noetic firmament; the mystical Zion's unassailable towers; the sweet-scented flowers of Paradise; the solid gold mouthpieces of the Logos; the glory of Chalcedon and the splendor of the universe. |
We praise You, we bless You, we worship You, we glorify You, we give thanks to You for Your great glory. |
Lord King, heavenly God, Father, Ruler over all; Lord, only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ; and You, O Holy Spirit. |
Lord God, Lamb of God, Son of the Father, who take away the sin of the world, have mercy on us, You who take away the sins of the world. |
Accept our supplication, You who sit at the right hand of the Father, and have mercy on us. |
For You alone are holy, You alone are Lord, Jesus Christ, to the glory of God the Father. Amen. |
Every day I will bless You, and Your name will I praise to eternity, and to the ages of ages. |
Vouchsafe, O Lord, this day, that we be kept without sin. |
Blessed are You, O Lord, the God of our fathers, and praised and glorified is Your name to the ages. Amen. |
Let Your mercy be on us, O Lord, as we have set our hope on You. |
Blessed are You, O Lord. Teach me Your statutes. |

Lord, You have been our refuge from generation to generation. I said: Lord, have mercy on me. Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You. |
Lord, I have fled to You. Teach me to do Your will, for You are my God. |
For with You is the fountain of life; in Your light we shall see light. |
Continue Your mercy to those who know You. |
Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. (3) |
Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. |
Both now and ever and to the ages of ages. Amen. |

Holy God, Holy Mighty, Holy Immortal, have mercy on us. |
After the Doxology, sing the following Resurrectional Troparion. |
|
Mode 4. (or the Mode of the week) |
|
Today has salvation come to pass in the world. Let us sing to Him who resurrected from the tomb and is the Author of our life. For, destroying death by death, He gave us the victory and the great mercy. [SD] |

Holy Lord, dwelling on high and beholding things below and, with your eye that observes all, keeping watch over the whole creation, to you we have bowed the neck of our soul and body, and we beseech you, O Holy of Holies: Stretch forth your invisible hand from your holy dwelling and bless us all. And, as you are good and love humankind, pardon us if we have sinned in anything, voluntarily or involuntarily, granting us your blessings both of this world and of the world above. |
