Ψαλλομένου δὲ τοῦ Γʹ Ἀντιφώνου (μετὰ τῶν στίχων), ὁ Ἱερεὺς καὶ ὁ Διάκονος στάντες ἔμπροσθεν τῆς ἁγίας Τραπέζης προσκυνοῦσι τρίς. Ὁ Ἱερεὺς εἶτα τὸ ἱερὸν Εὐαγγέλιον δίδωσι τῷ Διακόνῳ, ὅστις παραλαμβάνων αὐτὸ ἀσπάζεται τὴν χεῖρα τοῦ Ἱερέως καί, προπορευομένου λαμπαδούχου καὶ ἑξαπτερύγων, περιέρχεται κύκλῳ τὴν ἁγίαν Τράπεζαν, ἑπομένου τοῦ Ἱερέως καὶ ποιοῦσιν εἴσοδον (τὴν λεγομένην μικράν). Μὴ ὑπάρχοντος δὲ Διακόνου λαμβάνει τὸ ἱερὸν Εὐαγγέλιον ὁ Ἱερεὺς πρὸ προσώπου αὐτοῦ. Διασχίσαντες δὲ τὸ βόρειον κλίτος καὶ τὸ κεντρικὸν ἔρχονται εἰς τὸ μέσον τοῦ ναοῦ καὶ σταθέντες κλίνουσι τὰς κεφαλάς, τοῦ Διακόνου εἰπόντος·	As the Third Antiphon is being sung (with its verses), the Priest and Deacon bow three times before the holy Table. Then the Priest gives the holy Gospel to the Deacon, who kisses the Priest’s hand as he receives it, and then circles the holy Table with the Priest following him. Preceded by altar servers holding candles and fans, they exit through the north door for the so-called Small Entrance. When there is no Deacon, the Priest takes the holy Gospel and holds it up in front of his face. When they reach the center of the church, they stop and bow their heads, and the Deacon says in a low voice:

Give also to those who pray with us the grace of progress in right living, in faith and spiritual understanding. Grant that always worshipping you with fear and love, they may partake of your holy mysteries without guilt or condemnation, and be counted worthy of your heavenly kingdom.

None of those who are entangled in carnal desires and pleasures is worthy to approach or draw near or minister to you, King of glory; for to serve you is great and awesome even for the heavenly powers. Yet on account of your inexpressible and boundless love for mankind you became man without change or alteration and were named our High Priest; and as Master of all you have committed to us the sacred ministry of this liturgy without shedding of blood. For you alone, Lord our God, are Ruler over all things in heaven and on earth, mounted on the throne of the Cherubim, Lord of the Seraphim and King of Israel, the only Holy One, resting in the holy place. Therefore I entreat you, who alone are good and ready to hear: Look upon me, your sinful and unprofitable servant, and purify my soul and heart from an evil conscience.
