God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS]

Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ.

Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name.

Στίχ. βʹ. Πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐκύκλωσάν με, καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου ἠμυνάμην αὐτούς.

Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them.

Στίχ. γʹ. Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν.

Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes.

Ὁ πάσης δημιουργὸς τῆς κτίσεως, ὁ καιροὺς καὶ χρόνους ἐν τῇ ἰδίᾳ ἐξουσίᾳ θέμενος, εὐλόγησον τὸν στέφανον τοῦ ἐνιαυτοῦ τῆς χρηστότητός σου Κύριε, φυλάττων ἐν εἰρήνῃ τοὺς βασιλεῖς, καὶ τὴν πόλιν σου, πρεσβείαις τῆς Θεοτόκου, καὶ σῶσον ἡμᾶς.

Fashioner of all creation, who fix times and seasons by your own authority, bless the crown of the year with your goodness, Lord, preserving the Kings and your city in peace, at the prayers of the Mother of God, and save us. [Lash]

Ὑπομονῆς στῦλος γέγονας, ζηλώσας τοὺς προπάτορας Ὅσιε, τὸν Ἰὼβ ἐν τοῖς πάθεσι, τὸν Ἰωσὴφ ἐν τοῖς πειρασμοῖς, καὶ τὴν τῶν Ἀσωμάτων πολιτείαν, ὑπάρχων ἐν σώματι, Συμεὼν Πατὴρ ἡμῶν Ὅσιε, πρέσβευε Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ, σωθῆναι τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

You became a pillar of patience, O devout one, emulating the forefathers, Job in his sufferings and Joseph in his temptations, and the manner of the bodiless, though you were still in body. O devout father Symeon, intercede with Christ God, to save our souls. [SD]

Χαῖρε κεχαριτωμένη Θεοτόκε Παρθένε, λιμὴν καὶ προστασία τοῦ γένους τῶν ἀνθρώπων· ἐκ σοῦ γὰρ ἐσαρκώθη ὁ Λυτρωτὴς τοῦ κόσμου· μόνη γὰρ ὑπάρχεις Μήτηρ καὶ Παρθένος· ἀεὶ εὐλογημένη, καὶ δεδοξασμένη, πρέσβευε Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ, εἰρήνην δωρήσασθαι, πάσῃ τῇ οἰκουμένῃ.

Hail full of grace, Virgin Mother of God, haven and protection of the human race, for from you the Redeemer of the world took flesh, for you alone are Mother and Virgin, ever blessed and glorified; intercede with Christ God to grant the whole world peace. [Lash]

Therefore bless our comings and goings, direct the works of our hands for us and grant us forgiveness of offences; for you, the Powerful One, brought all things from non-existence into being. [Lash]

Ἐγκρατείᾳ τὸν βίον σου κατεκόσμησας, καὶ νεκρώσας τὸ σῶμά σου ἐξηφάνισας, τοῦ ἐχθροῦ τὰς προσβολάς, Πάτερ μακάριε· καὶ μετέστης πρὸς Θεόν, εἰς τὴν αἰώνιον ζωήν, ὡς ἄξιος κληρονόμος· διὸ μὴ παύσῃ πρεσβεύων, ἐλεηθῆναι τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν.

You adorned your life with self-mastery, and having slain the body, you wiped out the assaults of the foe, blessed Father; and, as a worthy heir, you passed over to God, to everlasting life; therefore do not cease to intercede that our souls may be saved. [Lash]

Εἰσῆλθες ἐν τῷ σκάμματι, τοῦ μαρτυρίου πιστῶς, Καλλίστη κηρύττουσα, σὺν τοῖς δυσὶν ἀδελφοῖς, Χριστὸν τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν· πόθῳ γὰρ θρεψαμένη, νοερὰ σκεύη ὄντως, τῆς Χριστοῦ Ἐκκλησίας, ἀπετέλεσας τούτους· διὸ καὶ συνηρμόσθης αὐτοῖς, Μάρτυς εἰς τὴν ἄνω ζωήν.

You came to the starting block of martyrdom, Kallisti, with your two brothers faithfully proclaiming Christ our God; for having nurtured them with love you made them true spiritual vessels of Christ’s Church; therefore, as a Martyr, you were joined with them for the life on high. [Lash]

Mode 4. Come quickly.

Ταχὺ δέξαι Δέσποινα, τὰς ἱκεσίας ἡμῶν, καὶ ταύτας προσάγαγε, τῷ σῷ Υἱῷ καὶ Θεῷ, Κυρία πανάχραντε· λῦσον τὰς περιστάσεις, τῶν εἰς σὲ προστρεχόντων, σκέδασον τὰς ἐνέδρας, καὶ τὰ θράση Παρθένε, τῶν νῦν ἐφοπλιζομένων, κατὰ τῶν δούλων σου.

Swiftly accept our supplications, Sovereign Lady, and bring them before your Son and God, pure Virgin; destroy the troubles of those who have recourse to you, scatter the ambushes and the insolent assaults of those who are now in arms against your servants. [Lash]

Ἀμνάδες λογικαί, τῷ ἀμνῷ καὶ ποιμένι, προσήχθητε πιστῶς, διὰ τοῦ μαρτυρίου, τὸν δρόμον τελέσασαι, καὶ τὴν πίστιν τηρήσασαι· ὅθεν σήμερον, περιχαρῶς εὐφημοῦμεν, ἀξιάγαστοι, τὴν ἱερὰν ὑμῶν μνήμην, Χριστὸν μεγαλύνοντες.

Rational Lambs, having finished your course and kept the faith, faithfully you were offered through martyrdom to the Lamb and Shepherd. And so today with joy we praise your sacred memory, noble Saints, as we magnify Christ. [Lash]

As to the Master of the universe and Giver of good things, with faith we fall down before you, as we fervently cry out: Entreated by your compassion, Saviour, and by the prayers of her who gave you birth, and of those who have ever been well pleasing to you, as you are good vouchsafe to grant a prosperous year to those who honour you in two natures and faithfully glorify you. Devout St. Meletius the New, who lived as an ascetic on the Mountain of Myoupolis, died in peace.

Ὁ ἅγιος Νεομάρτυς Ἀγγελῆς, ὁ ἐν Κωνσταντινουπόλει μαρτυρήσας κατὰ τὀ ͵αχπʹ (1680), ξίφει τελειοῦται.

The holy Neomartyr Angelis, who witnessed in Constantinople in the year 1680, died by the sword.

Σταυρὸν χαράξας Μωσῆς, ἐπʼ εὐθείας ῥάβδῳ, τὴν Ἐρυθρὰν διέτεμε, τῷ Ἰσραὴλ πεζεύσαντι· τὴν δὲ ἐπιστρεπτικῶς, Φαραὼ τοῖς ἅρμασι, κροτήσας ἥνωσεν, ἐπʼ εὔρους διαγράψας, τὸ ἀήττητον ὅπλον· διὸ Χριστῷ ᾄσωμεν, τῷ Θεῷ ἡμῶν ὅτι δεδόξασται.

When Jonah was in the belly * of the sea beast, and his hands in a cruciform were stretched out, * he thus clearly prefigured the saving Passion of Christ. * Whence after three days he emerged, depicting thus the super-mundane Resurrection from the dead * of our God who was physically nailed to the Cross * and by His third-day arising illumined the universe. Ἔκνοον πρόσταγμα τυράννου δυσσεβοῦς, λαοὺς ἐκλόνησε, πνέον ἀπειλῆς καὶ δυσφημίας θεοστυγοῦς. Ὅμως τρεῖς Παῖδας οὐκ ἐδειμάτωσε, θυμὸς θηριώδης, οὐ πῦρ βρόμιον· ἀλλʼ ἀντηχούντι δροσοβόλῳ πνεύματι, πυρὶ συνόντες ἔψαλλον· Ὁ ὑπερύμνητος, τῶν πατέρων καὶ ἡμῶν, Θεὸς εὐλογητὸς εἶ.

The impious tyrant's preposterous decree disturbed the populace, * breathing threats and blasphemous pronouncements hateful to God. * Yet the three Youths did not become frightened by the bestial anger or the roaring fire. * But with the dew-emitting wind whistling in opposition to the fire they sang: * O supremely praised You are blessed, O our God and the God of our fathers. Αἰνοῦμεν, εὐλογοῦμεν καὶ προσκυνοῦμεν τὸν Κύριον.

We praise and we bless and we worship the Lord.

Εὐλογεῖτε Παῖδες, τῆς Τριάδος ἰσάριθμοι, δημιουργὸν Πατέρα Θεόν· ὑμνεῖτε τὸν συγκαταβάντα Λόγον, καὶ τὸ πῦρ εἰς δρόσον μεταποιήσαντα· καὶ ὑπερυψοῦτε, τὸ πᾶσι ζωὴν παρέχον, Πνεῦμα πανάγιον εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας.
