God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS] |
Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ. |
Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name. |
Στίχ. βʹ. Πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐκύκλωσάν με, καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου ἠμυνάμην αὐτούς. |
Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them. |
Στίχ. γʹ. Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν. |
Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes. |

|
Θείας πίστεως ὁμολογία, ἄλλον Παῦλον σε τῇ Ἐκκλησίᾳ, ζηλωτὴν ἐν ἱερεῦσιν ἀνέδειξε, Συνεκβοᾷ σοι καὶ Ἄβελ πρὸς Κύριον, καὶ Ζαχαρίου τὸ αἷμα τὸ δίκαιον, Πάτερ Ὅσιε, Χριστὸν τὸν Θεὸν ἱκέτευε, δωρήσασθαι ἡμῖν τὸ μέγα ἔλεος. |
Your confession of the true divine faith * manifested you unto the whole Church * as another Paul and zealot among the priests. * With you together is shouting the righteous blood * of Zacharias and Abel unto the Lord. * Holy Father Paul, beseech Christ our God fervently, * entreating that He grant us His great mercy. Ῥάβδον δυνάμεως κεκτημένοι, τὸν Σταυρὸν τοῦ Υἱοῦ σου Θεοτόκε, ἐν αὐτῷ καταβαλοῦμεν, τῶν ἐχθρῶν τὰ φρυάγματα, οἱ πόθῳ σε ἀπαύστως μεγαλύνοντες. |
Having gained the Cross of your Son, O Mother of God, as a rod of power, with it we shall cast down the ramparts of the foes as with love we ceaselessly magnify you. [Lash] |
Ἀναγινώσκεται τὸ οἰκεῖον Κάθισμα τοῦ Ψαλτηρίου, ἤτοι Κάθισμα 19. Μεθʼ ὃ ἡ μικρὰ Συναπτή. |

Commemorating our all-holy, pure, most blessed and glorious Lady, Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary, with all the Saints, let us entrust ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God. |

Τόπος Κρανίου Παράδεισος γέγονε· μόνον γὰρ ἐπάγη τὸ ξύλον τοῦ Σταυροῦ, εὐθὺς ἐβλάστησε τὸν βότρυν τῆς ζωῆς, σὲ Σωτήρ, εἰς ἡμῶν εὐφροσύνην· Δόξα σοι. |
The Place of the Skull became Paradise; for once the tree of the Cross was planted there, immediately it blossomed the grape cluster of life, namely You, O Savior, to gladden our hearts. Glory to You. [SD] |
Στίχ. Ὑψοῦτε Κύριον τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν καὶ προσκυνεῖτε τῷ ὑποποδίῳ τῶν ποδῶν αὐτοῦ, ὅτι ἅγιός ἐστι. |
Verse: Exalt the Lord our God, and worship at the footstool of His feet; for He is holy. |

Τὸ ξύλον τοῦ Σταυροῦ σου Σωτὴρ ἡμῶν, τοῦ κόσμου ἀνεδείχθη σωτήριον· ἐν αὐτῷ γὰρ βουλήσει προσηλωθείς, τῆς κατάρας ἐῤῥύσω τοὺς γηγενεῖς, ἡ πάντων ζωή· Κύριε δόξα σοι. |
O Savior, the tree of Your Cross became the salvation of the world. For You were willingly nailed to it, and thus You delivered us born on earth from the curse, O Life of all. Glory to You, O Lord. [SD] |

As she stood near the Cross of the Lord on Golgotha * and lamented, the Mother of God cried out to Him, * “Woe is me! O Son and God, the sweetest light of my eyes! * Now stretched out on a cross are You who long ago as God * stretched out the heavens like a curtain, * and brought out fountains of waters * from the sea, by Your ordinance!” [GOASD] |

Τὸν σταυρωθέντα Σωτῆρα καὶ Λυτρωτὴν ἡμῶν, ἑκουσίως ὡς οἶδε καὶ ὡς ηὐδόκησεν, ἀνυμνήσωμεν πιστοὶ καὶ προσκυνήσωμεν· ὅτι προσήλωσε Σταυρῷ, τὰς ἁμαρτίας τῶν βροτῶν, ῥυσάμενος ἐκ τῆς πλάνης, τὸ γένος τῶν ἀνθρώπων, καὶ Βασιλείας κατηξίωσεν. |
O believers, let us extol and worship our Savior and Redeemer, who was voluntarily crucified, as He knew how and was well pleased to do. For He delivered the human race from error, and He nailed the sins of humanity to the Cross, and granted us the kingdom. [SD] |

Ὁ Σταυρὸν ὑπομείνας σοῦ ἑκουσίᾳ βουλῇ, καὶ φθορᾶς τοὺς ἀνθρώπους ἐλευθερώσας Σωτήρ, ἀνυμνοῦμεν οἱ πιστοὶ καὶ προσκυνοῦμεν σε, ὅτι ἐφώτισας ἡμᾶς, τῇ δυνάμει τοῦ Σταυροῦ, καὶ φόβῳ δοξάζομέν σε, Φιλάνθρωπε καὶ Οἰκτίρμον, ὡς ζωοδότην καὶ Κύριον. |
O Lord, who endured crucifixion of Your own will, and freed mankind from corruption, we believer extol You and worship You, for by the power of the Cross You illumined us. And now with fear we glorify You, the compassionate Giver of life who loves humanity. [SD] |

As Your Mother was watching You voluntarily * being nailed to the Cross as innocent lamb, * she lamented, and it wore her out, O Christ, and she cried, * “Woe is me! For You, my light, have been cruelly put out! * You are the King of all creation, * and yet You die like a villain * among criminals, my Son and God!” [GOASD] |

Adam harvested bitterness from the tree of old, * when he slid into death by the envy of the snake. * When You were crucified, O Jesus, he harvested life, * and through the tree of the Cross, he lives in heaven again, * and death itself and the serpent * are swallowed up and defeated, * and we all glorify You, Christ our God. The memory of the Champions shines today, for it takes its radiance from heaven; the choir of Angels keeps festival, and the human race feasts with them, and so they intercede with the Lord to have mercy on our souls. [Lash] |

Ἐλέησόν με, ὁ Θεός, κατὰ τὸ μέγα ἔλεός σου, καὶ κατὰ τὸ πλῆθος τῶν οἰκτιρμῶν σου ἐξάλειψον τὸ ἀνόμημά μου. Ἐπὶ πλεῖον πλῦνόν με ἀπὸ τῆς ἀνομίας μου, καὶ απὸ τῆς ἁμαρτίας μου καθάρισόν με. Ῥῦσαί με ἐξ αἱμάτων, ὁ Θεός, ὁ Θεὸς τῆς σωτηρίας μου· ἀγαλλιάσεται ἡ γλῶσσά μου τὴν δικαιοσύνην σου. Κύριε, τὰ χείλη μου ἀνοίξεις καὶ τὸ στόμα μου ἀναγγελεῖ τὴν αἴνεσίν σου. Ὅτι εἰ ἠθέλησας θυσίαν, ἔδωκα ἄν· ὁλοκαυτώματα οὐκ εὐδοκήσεις. Θυσία τῷ Θεῷ πνεῦμα συντετριμμένον· καρδίαν συντετριμμένην καὶ τεταπεινωμένην ὁ Θεὸς οὐκ ἐξουδενώσει. Ἀγάθυνον, Κύριε, ἐν τῇ εὐδοκίᾳ σου τὴν Σιὼν καὶ οἰκοδομηθήτω τὰ τείχη Ἰερουσαλήμ. Τότε εὐδοκήσεις θυσίαν δικαιοσύνης, ἀναφορὰν καὶ ὁλοκαυτώματα. Τότε ἀνοίσουσιν ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριόν σου μόσχους. |
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Ἀστράψας ἐν γῇ, ὡς ἄστρον οὐρανόφωτον, τὴν καθολικὴν φωτίζεις Ἐκκλησίαν νῦν, ὑπὲρ ἧς καὶ ἤθλησας, τὴν ψυχήν σου Παῦλε προθέμενος, καὶ ὡς Ζαχαρίου καὶ Ἄβελ τρανῶς, βοᾷ σου τὸ αἷμα πρὸς Κύριον. |
You shone forth on earth like a star with celestial light, and now you illumine the one, holy catholic Church; on behalf of which, O Paul, you contended and laid down your life. And, like that of Zacharaias and Abel of old, your blood that was shed cries out to the Lord. [SD] |

Ὁμολογίας στῦλος ὑπάρχεις, καὶ ὁμώνυμος Παύλου τοῦ φωστῆρος τῆς γῆς, ὁμότροπός τε καὶ σύναθλος, τὰ στίγματα τοῦ Ἰησοῦ βαστάζων ἐν τῷ σώματι, Παῦλε ἱερομύστα· καὶ ἐν αὐτοῖς ἐντρυφῶν, καὶ καυχώμενος πάντοτε, ἐνώπιον βασιλέων κακοδόξων ὤφθης ἱστάμενος, καὶ μὴ πτοούμενος, μᾶλλον δὲ δυναμούμενος. Of the faith, your are a pillar of confession; and with Paul who enlightened the earth, you share name and manner and contest, for in your body you also bear the marks of Jesus, O sacred mystic Paul. In those marks you ever delighted and boasted, energized and unafraid, as you stood before heretical emperors. Therefore, your blood that was shed cries out to the Lord. [SD] |
