Θεὸς Κύριος καὶ ἐπέφανεν ἡμῖν. Εὐλογημένος ὁ ἐρχόμενος ἐν ὀνόματι Κυρίου. |
God is the Lord, and He revealed Himself to us. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. [SAAS] |
Στίχ. αʹ. Ἐξομολογεῖσθε τῷ Κυρίῳ καὶ ἐπικαλεῖσθε τὸ ὄνομα τὸ ἅγιον αὐτοῦ. |
Verse 1: Give thanks to the Lord and call upon His holy name. |
Στίχ. βʹ. Πάντα τὰ ἔθνη ἐκύκλωσάν με, καὶ τῷ ὀνόματι Κυρίου ἠμυνάμην αὐτούς. |
Verse 2: All the nations surrounded me, but in the name of the Lord I defended myself against them. |
Στίχ. γʹ. Παρὰ Κυρίου ἐγένετο αὕτη καὶ ἔστι θαυμαστὴ ἐν ὀφθαλμοῖς ἡμῶν. |
Verse 3: And this came about from the Lord, and it is wonderful in our eyes. |

Μεγάλα τὰ τῆς πίστεως κατορθώματα! Ἐν τῇ πηγῇ τῆς φλογός, ὡς ἐπὶ ὕδατος ἀναπαύσεως, οἱ ἅγιοι τρεῖς Παῖδες ἠγάλλοντο· καὶ ὁ Προφήτης Δανιήλ, λεόντων ποιμήν, ὡς προβάτων ἐδείκνυτο. Ταῖς αὐτῶν ἱκεσίαις Χριστὲ ὁ Θεός, σῶσον τὰς ψυχὰς ἡμῶν. |
Great are the achievements of faith! In the fountain of flame, as by the water of rest, the three holy youths rejoiced, and the Prophet Daniel was revealed shepherding lions like sheep. At their intercessions, Christ God, save our souls. [Lash] |

Θείας γεγόναμεν κοινωνοὶ φύσεως, διὰ σοῦ Ἀειπάρθενε· Θεὸν γὰρ ἡμῖν σεσαρκωμένον ἔτεκες· διὸ κατὰ χρέος σε, πάντες εὐσεβῶς μεγαλύνομεν. |
We have become partakers in divine nature through you, Ever-virgin; for your gave birth to God incarnate for our sake; and so, as is fitting, we all devoutly magnify you. [Lash] |
Ἀναγινώσκεται τὸ οἰκεῖον Κάθισμα τοῦ Ψαλτηρίου, ἤτοι Κάθισμα 13. Μεθʼ ὃ ἡ μικρὰ Συναπτή. |
The appointed Kathisma of the Psalter may be read, i.e. Kathisma 13. Then the short litany. |

Help us, save us, have mercy on us, and keep us, O God, by your grace. |

Τῆς παναγίας, ἀχράντου, ὑπερευλογημένης, ἐνδόξου, δεσποίνης ἡμῶν Θεοτόκου καὶ ἀειπαρθένου Μαρίας μετὰ πάντων τῶν ἁγίων μνημονεύσαντες, ἑαυτοὺς καὶ ἀλλήλους καὶ πᾶσαν τὴν ζωὴν ἡμῶν Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ παραθώμεθα. |
Commemorating our all-holy, pure, most blessed and glorious Lady, Mother of God and Ever-Virgin Mary, with all the Saints, let us entrust ourselves and one another and our whole life to Christ our God. |

For yours is the dominion, and yours is the kingdom, the power, and the glory of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and to the ages of ages. |

Τῶν Ἀποστόλων σου, τὴν μνήμην Κύριε, ὑπερεφαίδρυνας, ὡς παντοδύναμος, ὅτι ἐνίσχυσας αὐτούς, τὰ πάθη σου μιμήσασθαι· ἐνίκησαν ἀνδρείως γάρ, τοῦ Βελίαρ τὴν δύναμιν· ὅθεν καὶ ἀπέλαβον, ἰαμάτων χαρίσματα. Αὐτῶν ταῖς ἱκεσίαις φιλάνθρωπε, εἰρήνην παράσχου τῷ λαῷ σου. |
As All-powerful you have made the memory of your Apostles radiantly bright, Lord, for you gave them strength to imitate your sufferings; bravely they conquered the power of Beliar; therefore they have received gifts of healings. At their supplications, O Merciful, grant peace to your people. [Lash] |

Πᾶσαν ἤρδευσαν, τὴν γῆν τοῖς ῥείθροις, οἱ Ἀπόστολοι, τοῦ Θεοῦ Λόγου, καὶ ἀνεβλάστησεν ὁ στάχυς τῆς πίστεως, καὶ ἐπληρώθη τοῦ κόσμου τὰ πέρατα· τὰ γὰρ ζιζάνια πάντα ἐξέκοψαν· ὅθεν ἅπαντας Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ προσήγαγον, βαπτίζοντες αὐτούς, εἰς Τριάδα τὴν ἄκτιστον. |
The Apostles of God the Word watered the earth with streams, and the ear of grain of the Faith sprouted and filled the ends of the earth, for they cut down all the cockle; therefore they brought all to Christ God, baptising them into the uncreated Trinity. [Lash] |

Τῆς συμπαθείας σου, πλοῦτον τὸν ἄμετρον, καὶ δυναστείας σου, κράτος τὸ ἄμαχον, ἀναλαβόμενος εἰς νοῦν, προσέδραμον τῇ σκέπῃ σου, θλίψει συνεχόμενος, καὶ δεινῶς ἀπορούμενος, κράζων ἐκ βαθέων μου, τῆς καρδίας τοῖς δάκρυσι, Παρθένε Θεοτόκε βοῶ σοι· Σῶσόν με, σῶσον τὸν ἀνάξιον. |
As I called to mind the measureless wealth of your sympathy and the invincible might of your power, beset by trouble and in dread despair, I ran to your protection; crying with tears from the depths of my heart, I cry to you Virgin Mother of God, ’save me, save the unworthy!' [Lash] |

Δεῦτε ἅπαντες, τοὺς Ἀποστόλους, εὐφημήσωμεν, ᾄσμασι θείοις· τῶν εἰδώλων γὰρ τὴν πλάνην βυθίσαντες, πρὸς θεῖον φῶς τοὺς βροτοὺς ἐπανήγαγον, καὶ τῇ Τριάδι πιστεύειν ἐδίδαξαν· ὅθεν σήμερον, αὐτοὺς εὐσεβῶς γεραίροντες, δοξάσωμεν Χριστὸν τὸν Θεὸν ἡμῶν. |
Come, let us all praise the Apostles with godly songs, for by drowning the error of idols they led mortals to divine light and taught them to believe in the Trinity; therefore as today we devoutly honour them, let us glorify Christ our God. [Lash] |
Στίχ. Οἱ οὐρανοὶ διηγοῦνται δόξαν Θεοῦ, ποίησιν δὲ χειρῶν αὐτοῦ ἀναγγέλλει τὸ στερέωμα. |

Ἔργοις λάμψαντες, ὀρθοδοξίας, πλάνην ἔσβεσαν κακοδοξίας, οἱ εὐκλεεῖς καὶ θεόπται Ἀπόστολοι, καὶ εὐσεβείᾳ τὸν κόσμον πλουτίσαντες, τὰς Ἐκκλησίας φαιδρῶς κατεκόσμησαν, ἐξαιτούμενοι, Χριστῷ τῷ Θεῷ, δωρήσασθαι, εἰρήνην τοῖς πιστοῖς, καὶ μέγα ἔλεος. |
The far-famed and god-bearing Apostles, shining with deeds of right belief, quenched the error of false belief; enriching the world with true religion they radiantly adorned the Churches as they ask Christ God to grant peace to the faithful and his great mercy. [Lash] |

Drowning in a sea of passions I flee to the ocean of your pities, Mother of God, help me; stretch out your right hand to me your servant, All-Immaculate, save me as once your Son saved Peter; have mercy on a soul foundering in the billows of many offences. [Lash] |

In praise we hymn you, Nicholas, as herald of the truth and radiant beacon of the world, and as we ask in faith we cry out, 'As you snatched the innocent from death, so rescue us, O Holy one, from dangers, affliction and every dread trouble. [Lash] |

Holy, all-praised Champions, through the faith you shone out as radiant beacons, physicians of the weak; for you were not cowed by the torments of tyrants but cast down the blasphemies of idols, having as an invincible trophy the Cross of the truth. [Lash] |

All-Immaculate Mother of God, you have been revealed as the all golden throne of the King and Paradise that flowers again; for you carried God in your womb and make us fragrant with divine graces; therefore we all ever proclaim you as truly Mother of God and we magnify you. [Lash] |

Ὅτι εἰ ἠθέλησας θυσίαν, ἔδωκα ἄν· ὁλοκαυτώματα οὐκ εὐδοκήσεις. Θυσία τῷ Θεῷ πνεῦμα συντετριμμένον· καρδίαν συντετριμμένην καὶ τεταπεινωμένην ὁ Θεὸς οὐκ ἐξουδενώσει. Ἀγάθυνον, Κύριε, ἐν τῇ εὐδοκίᾳ σου τὴν Σιὼν καὶ οἰκοδομηθήτω τὰ τείχη Ἰερουσαλήμ. Τότε εὐδοκήσεις θυσίαν δικαιοσύνης, ἀναφορὰν καὶ ὁλοκαυτώματα. Τότε ἀνοίσουσιν ἐπὶ τὸ θυσιαστήριόν σου μόσχους. |
Have mercy on me, O God, according to Your great mercy; and according to the abundance of Your compassion, blot out my transgression. Wash me thoroughly from my lawlessness and cleanse me from my sin. For I know my lawlessness, and my sin is always before me. Against You only have I sinned and done evil in Your sight; that You may be justified in Your words, and overcome when You are judged. For behold, I was conceived in transgressions, and in sins my mother bore me. Behold, You love truth; You showed me the unknown and secret things of Your wisdom. You shall sprinkle me with hyssop, and I will be cleansed; You shall wash me, and I will be made whiter than snow. You shall make me hear joy and gladness; my bones that were humbled shall greatly rejoice. Turn Your face from my sins, and blot out all my transgressions. Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within me. Do not cast me away from Your presence, and do not take Your Holy Spirit from me. Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and uphold me with Your guiding Spirit. I will teach transgressors Your ways, and the ungodly shall turn back to You. Deliver me from bloodguiltiness, O God, the God of my salvation, and my tongue shall greatly rejoice in Your righteousness. O Lord, You shall open my lips, and my mouth will declare Your praise. For if You desired sacrifice, I would give it; You will not be pleased with whole burnt offerings. A sacrifice to God is a broken spirit, a broken and humbled heart God will not despise. Do good, O Lord, in Your good pleasure to Zion, and let the walls of Jerusalem be built; then You will be pleased with a sacrifice of righteousness, with offerings and whole burnt offerings; then shall they offer young bulls on Your altar. Χειρόγραφον εἰκόνα μὴ σεβασθέντες, ἀλλʼ ἀγράφῳ οὐσίᾳ θωρακισθέντες, τρισμακάριοι ἐν τῷ σκάμματι, τοῦ πυρὸς ἐδοξάσθητε· ἐν μέσῳ δὲ φλογὸς ἀνυποστάτου ἱστάμενοι, Θεὸν ἐπεκαλεῖσθε· Τάχυνον ὁ οἰκτίρμων, καὶ σπεῦσον ὡς ἐλεήμων, εἰς τὴν βοήθειαν ἡμῶν, ὅτι δύνασαι βουλόμενος. |
Because you did not honour an image traced by human hand, but were armed with the breastplate of uncreated being, you were glorified, thrice-blessed Youths, in the arena of the fire; but standing in the midst of the immaterial flame you called on God: Come swiftly in your pity, hasten in your mercy to come to our aid, for you can accomplish whatever you will. Stretch out your hand, which of old the warring Egyptians and the warred-on Hebrews experienced; do not abandon us, do not let death swallow us. O believers, the Prophet Daniel has spiritually congregated us today. He sets a sumptuous banquet of virtues, for rich and poor, strangers and local residents, and a spiritual wine bowl that pours forth the beverage of sound religion, which gladdens the hearts of the faithful and grants them the grace of the Holy Spirit. This Prophet, this lamp that shined so brightly in the world, overthrew all that the Assyrians worshiped, and he stopped the mouths of untamed lions. As we extol him, let us also praise the Three Servants who, although they were not gold by nature, were shown to be more refined than gold. For the fire of the furnace did not consume them, but it kept them unharmed, though naphtha and pitch and branches were piled on them. May the Lord, who has brought us again to this time of year, count us worthy to reach the principal and venerable day of the Nativity of Christ. He it is who, by their entreaties, grants us the forgiveness of our sins and the great mercy. [SD] |
